House hunting in wild weather!

There is some crazy rain going on in Sydney at the moment - bucketing down! (and sideways as well)

We had planned to go camping this week - but my cold put a stop to those plans. And boy was that a great decision - the camp site we were going to is now flooded. To fill the time - we decided to visit some new housing estates going up to see if there were any other designs out there we liked.

We visited a few places:
* Nelsons Ridge, Pemulway (Greysteynes)
* Ropes Crossing, St Marys
* Bridgewater, Camden

It was pretty interesting dashing from display home to display home in the wet - then walking into homes air conditioned to around 30C - we were overheating!

Nelsons Ridge - boy are they packing in houses there! Zero alotment building - which means on one side you can build right on the boundary - then on the other side they have a 90cm setback on the other side. We did see one house that may be suitable - the Highbury from Huxley Homes - however the display home was only open on weekends from 12pm-5pm (grr!). We'll have to go back on a weekend to check it out.

Ropes Crossing - a more laid out estate. 600sqm is a large block (shock!) with 450sqm more average. Some interesting designs - the Wincrest Grange has potential.

Bridgewater - we thought the Eden Brae Madison might be suitable after talking with an Eden Brae consultant at Ropes Crossing - but after walking around inside - it just didn't "feel" right on the inside compared to on paper. The Entertainer is still the better Eden Brae design - but has a strangely shaped media room we just couldn't live with.

After all of that - the Impression 38 from Wisdom Homes is still the best internal plan for our needs. We'll just have to see whether something can be done on the side of the house (perhaps wrap around balconies or use of different materials) to make it look interesting from the golf course.

We'll just keep playing the waiting game until our land is ready. This extreme weather is most certainly slowing down heavy earthworks to prepare the homesites. Grrrr ... grrr ... double grrr :)
