The initial idea to get members into a new club was to transfer Ashlar GC in Blacktown to Stonecutters Ridge GC. Hey presto we'd get a whole lot of members and cash flow in year 1.
On rumours of the deal - membership at Ashlar GC increased significantly - the word was that as soon as the club voted to go ahead with the deal (which was supposed to be July, then September) - the $0 joining fee would be replaced with a fairly hefty one (I suspect around $2000).
The latest from the rumour mill is that the vote has been delayed until next year. Members have been heard grumbling to each other about a lack of information from the Board with many originally intending to vote YES to the change, now in the UNDECIDED and NO camp.
I've heard that the Council (Blacktown) has no objections to the move - they want an extra 200,000 residents in the area over the next 12 years and Ashlar GC may be the only large land site available for new homes.
Who knows what this may mean for the Stonecutters Ridge Golf Club. Only time will tell...
