Rule 1.8.5 of the Stonecutters Ridge Design Guidelines states:
Letterboxes must be within a stone or masonry pillar and the finish and colour
must complement the dwelling
The landscapers handling the front landscaping packages (available to early release buyers) quoted anywhere from $600-900 to build a brick letterbox and required you to supply the letterbox infil itself (anywhere from $150-200)
I personally thought this was a bit expensive and looked for a more reasonable alternative.
We found one at Mailmaster - the Moderna @ $346:
There's also a more traditional style called The Pier @ $395
Installation was relatively easy. It took us about 30 minutes to get to this point (most of the time was digging the hole. I then masked the letterbox slot.
And using leftover house paint, it was an easy job to paint the letterbox.
Remove the tape and voila!
Letterbox - $346
Stainless steel letters x2 - $24.20
Delivery - $24.21
Bags of concrete x2 - $15
TOTAL - $409.41
That's a significant saving of the cost of $800-1000 the landscaping company would charge.

did you hook up a sensor to it, so that it can send you an email when you get a letter?
ReplyDeleteBlakey! Nah - we set up our security camera system to send us a message when it detects the mailman at the letterbox ;)
ReplyDeleteFor fun, get it to trigger a dog barking noise, sometimes. Just to keep him on his toes.
