Picfest galore! More tiles, benchtops

I was on site this morning for a meeting with the Construction Manager and Site Supervisor about our staircase. Unfortunately there wasn't a way to have the stair case on the plan without demolishing the whole thing and starting again - so it will have to go.

Frank (the Construction Manager) has been excellent about the whole thing and I'm sure there'll be some new procedures in place for standard wording in contracts and checking that they matched the plan. Wisdom have been excellent in terms of customer service during this kerfuffel. (is that even the right way to spell that word?)

At the same time - I had a look around and lots has been going on.

Our Caesarstone 'Snow' benchtop is on. The 'Snow' choice was an upgrade on the kitchen package but completely worth it. Love the waterfall side as well!

Downstairs powder room has had the border tiled and sink installed. Splashback will be done today.

Built in laundry cupboards with laminex top (and they hide the water taps for the washer under the cupboard - very clever!)

Master suite bath (there is a feature tile to go where that black waterproofing is)

Ensuite shower - you can see the travertine feature tile

Ensuite vanity and basins

Tiling on the rear upstairs balcony. The pergola is Merbau timber for fire retardancy - they haven't sealed it yet and some rained caused some of the natural timber oils to leech onto the tiles and brick work. Hopefully it gets stained and sealed ASAP.

I also got a revised handover timeframe as well - most likely March, definitely before Easter. Yes I'm a bit disappointed - but given we've deviated from the standard Wisdom Homes plan in a number of places - better that they take their time and get it right.
We've been waiting 3 years so a few more weeks isn't going to kill us!
So what is on the horizon for the next few weeks?
  • Carpenter will complete the skirting and wardrobe framing
  • Sander to do walls
  • Painter to start on first coat
  • Staircase to be removed and replaced
  • Main floor tiles

Apparently that will be about a month all up to complete those tasks, then it will be shower screens and mirrors, kitchen splash back and driveway excavation.

  1. Things are looking great! You guys ahve the same basins as we do, except we've decided to have them sit on top of the counters rather than inset (which I would have preferred but Megan won that argument).

Looking really nice! And you're right - what's a few more weeks? All in all, you're close to handover!

  3. Hey Stefan - we didn't get a choice with the sinks (lucky for us - it would have been a tough one!). Is your bench going to be a little lower then? Otherwise the tap ends up quite high

    Thanks Annie :)
